One man was killed and at least six people have been injured, including a 5-year-old girl, in a mass shooting in a Baltimore neighborhood over the weekend.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said  at a news conference that Northern District Officers responded to the 5100 block of Queensbury Avenue to investigate a call for a “reported shooting,” where they located six victims suffering from gunshot wounds,” the Baltimore Police said in a statement. The six victims included four males and two females, as well as the 5-year-old girl, who was shot in the hand. Worley said the child’s injury does not appear to be serious.

A 38-year-old man died from his injuries on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 10, police confirmed; a 23-year-old woman and three men aged 32, 33 and 52, suffering non-life-threatening injuries. Worley said in a news conference: “Both our homicide and district detective units are on the scene. We have very little information at this point. All we know is there’s multiple rounds fired, multiple victims,” adding that it appears someone “opened fire” as a group of people were sitting outside eating crabs.

Police believe that the victims were possibly targeted in the shooting; however,  no details of any possible suspects have been released at this time. The Baltimore Police Department restricted access to the area amid their investigation, writing on X:  “BPD is scene of a mass shooting at the intersection of Spaulding & Queensbury Avenues. Multiple streets in the area are closed to the public. Please avoid the area. More information to follow as it becomes available.”

Police are asking anyone who has information about the incident to call Homicide Detectives at 410-396-2100. Those who wish to remain anonymous may contact the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-866-7LOCKUP. Those with information can also text tips through the Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland website.
